GTH recently sponsored the 18th Annual Breakfast With Champions held by the King County Bar Association (KCBA). The benefit breakfast raised funds to go to the King County Bar Foundation, which is the charitable arm of the KCBA. Through the foundation, money is raised to help support pro-bono legal programs and provide grants to University of Washington and Seattle University Schools of Law for minority students. The program began with a moving presentation about Angélica Maria González, a recipient of last year’s KCBA minority law student scholarship. The morning’s keynote speaker was Dahlia Lithwick, who is considered one of the best Supreme Court journalist in the United States. Dahlia gave a thought provoking speech on the role of religion in the Supreme Court, and encouraged everyone to be more willing to engage in the sometimes difficult conversations about how religion, our values, and the law intersect.
