FMLA and Leave Statutes


The attorneys at Gordon Thomas Honeywell frequently provide advice to employers regarding compliance with the federal Family Medical Leave Act and other state leave statutes. Common issues include employee eligibility for FMLA leave; how FMLA leave relates to worker’s compensation leave and time loss payments; how FMLA leave relates to an employer’s obligation to provide reasonable accommodations to disabled workers under the ADA and other disability statutes.  Our attorneys also provide advice to clients on a variety of other leave statutes, including the new Washington State Paid Family and Medical Leave Act, which is administered through the Employment Security Department, effective January 1, 2020.  Our attorneys also provide advice regarding the Washington Sick and Safe Leave statute, as well as other local, paid leave ordinances.  Our attorneys routinely draft employer leave policies for compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local leave laws and regulations.
