J. Owen Taylor is a senior associate whose practice focuses on business and employment transactional law, with particular emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and employment advising. He represents closely held businesses, private investors, and executives across a wide range of industries, guiding clients through complex legal and strategic matters with a practical, business-minded approach.
Owen has extensive experience advising buyers and sellers in mergers and acquisitions, including stock and asset purchases, corporate reorganizations, and joint ventures. He assists clients at every stage of a transaction—managing due diligence, drafting and negotiating definitive agreements, and ensuring seamless closings. His work frequently involves cross-functional coordination to structure deals that align with long-term business objectives.
In addition to transactional work, Owen advises employers and executives on a wide range of employment issues, including executive employment agreements, incentive compensation, non-compete and confidentiality provisions, and employee separations. He helps companies develop policies and practices that minimize legal exposure and support a healthy organizational culture.
Prior to practicing law, Owen worked in corporate banking, where he developed a strong foundation in financial analysis, skills he now applies to help clients make sound business decisions. He is known for his attention to detail, clear communication, and practical legal guidance.
Owen earned his J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law. He holds a B.A. in Business Administration (Management) from Eastern Washington University. He spends much of his free time fishing for halibut, salmon, and tuna in Puget Sound and off the coast near Sekiu and Neah Bay.
