Sexual Abuse & Assault

In recent years, the number of sexual abuse and sexual assault claims has increased dramatically. A report from the Rape Abuse Incest Nation Network (RAINN) estimates that there are nearly 300,000 cases of sexual abuse in the U.S. each year. The physical and emotional trauma of sexual abuse survivors can affect a survivor for years. By speaking to one of our sexual abuse attorneys, you may be entitled to compensation for; psychological trauma, emotional counseling, medical treatment, lost wages, or any injuries resulting from the injury.

Who can be held responsible for my attack?

It is possible that more than one party may be legally liable for a sexual assault. Schools, employers, or organizations that disregard complaints, turn a blind eye to inappropriate behavior, have insufficient screening policies and procedures, or fail to take reasonable steps to prevent customers or guests from sexual abuse may be liable.

Common types of businesses and institutions that may be held liable for sexual assault include:

  • Employers
  • Daycare and childcare centers
  • Public Schools
  • Universities
  • Summer Camps
  • Hotels
  • Apartment complexes
  • Churches and other religious institutions

Is there a time limit on how long I can pursue a lawsuit?

A statute of limitations is a law that sets the maximum period for filing a lawsuit. The time frame can vary depending on the type of case or claim.  In Washington, the statute of limitations may be extended under certain circumstances for minor victims of sexual abuse.
